MR Toomey Photography | About

Photography runs deep in my genes: both of my grandfathers were photographers during their time in the military, one amateur and one drafted to document the movements of the 3rd infantry in World War II. I've been playing with and using cameras from a very young age. My passion for photography as an art form came into focus (pun intended!) when I took a high school photography class instead of the theatre production elective that semester, unheard of as the Drama Club President. These two artistic pursuits have been honed and developed in tandem: photography informing tableaus on stage and theatre reminding me how to tell a story between shutter clicks.

Trained on film, I am most comfortable as a natural and available-light photographer. Now wielding a digital camera, I still strive to create my images in-camera and not rely heavily on post-production. This means that my clients get more useable images, even if they don't go through my editing software.

I also believe that having photographic evidence of the unique part you play in the world should not be cost-prohibitive. I strive to meet my clients' budgets while still delivering excellent products. I invite you to e mail me to learn more.

"We had a great time with Margaret over at Discovery Park the other day! She made the process so easy for me and my 4 year old daughter. As I typically feel very uncomfortable getting my photo taken, it was a wonderful experience. Also I have never seen my daughter respond to well getting her photo taken. I would definitely recommend MR Toomey Photography for any family portrait. She is great with children and making them comfortable, which can make the biggest difference in your photoshoot!" - Posted by Kaitlin Brown on March 22, 2015 on Facebook
